Basses

Since the web site is called "Bass Space", I figured I ought to include at least one page with nice pictures of some bass guitars. After all, that's the first thing I want to look at when I visit another bass player's site! So here is my current arsenal for all of you bass junkies to check out. By the way, I used almost all of these instruments on my album, and I actively gig with them, too. I'm sorry, but they are NOT for sale (except for the Hanewinckel - see below).

Main Basses - made by Tune Guitar Maniac, Japan
Life has been good since I started using Tune basses over 10 years ago. These instruments have all the great sound quality and beauty of custom hand made instruments, combined with the comfortable weight and great playability of smaller Japanese basses. I started with the Kingbass, then later acquired the 4 string, and most recently, the "twin" custom Bass Maniac 5 strings. You'll see me playing one of these on 9 out of 10 gigs or recording sessions. I really love my Tunes!!!

Secondary Basses
These ones don't get out as often, but still come in handy for certain situations when a particular style is needed. The Kydd is my ultra-portable solution for situations where an upright bass sound is needed. The two Fernandes basses are good cheap knockaround instruments for practicing and teaching, etc. The old Fender hybrid was actually my very first bass. It's been through a lot of changes over the years, and is currently undergoing yet another neck/pickup transition!

One more special bass to mention: my Hanewinckel Reactor Signature Custom 4 string. This top of the line beauty was custom made to my specifications by Southern California expert luthier Pete Hanewinckel. With a 9-piece neck, Zebrawood top, 18-volt electronics, triple headstock laminates, etc.....it's got all the bells and whistles! It plays like lightning, has a really distinctive punchy sound, and looks absolutely stunning. And it's for sale! This bass has been very lightly used, but has served me supremely well. I simply have too many basses now, and it's time to trim the herd. Please send an email if interested.
